What age is an atom player? 7 yr to 10yr. Player may not turn 11yr in playing yr.
What age is a peewee player? 10yr to 12yr. Player may not turn 13 in playing yr.
What age is a bantam player? 13yr to 15yr of age.
How many games do we play? 9 games in the regular season plus 2 playoff games, then possible provincial. Half at home and the other half in and around Do we play in all weather? Yes! We only hide from lightening!
Where is our practice field? Our Lady Mount Pleasant School (may change for 2011 season to be closer to our clubhouse, where our equipment is stored.)
Why so many practices? Football is a game of strategy and wit that requires constant repetition of plays to perfect them. It is the only sport that spends five days of practice to play one game. One game of football is like 4 games of hockey.
Where is the game field? We play home games at Harry Andreasson field with the change rooms over at the swimming pool. Coaches usually require players arrive 1 hour prior to game time.
Can girls play contact football? Yes! Atom, and Peewee and Bantam football.
When it is cold what does my player wear? It is wise to have your player pack a turtle neck or long sleeve tee-shirt in order to fight the cold. Also have a pair of one size fits all gloves in the player’s kit. Have a dry shirt for half time or after the game. In cold weather have the player bring an extra large jacket to the bench to wear while not playing. You can buy gloves and under armour clothing at sports stores.
Do the players get Eskimo tickets? All the Atom players have first refusal on Eskimo home game tickets. Our association has been to every home game. Leftover tickets are offered to Peewee players. Why can players not wear their game jersey to school or other outings? Each jersey costs around $85.00 depending on quality. A lost jersey can take up to 6 weeks to replace. Also we want to make the wearing of the jersey a special occasion at games. At times we have had players wear jerseys to Esks games or if your coach gives special permission on certain days.
Does the QB wear a special helmet? Not really, receivers and line men have different facemasks but the QB will wear a standard helmet.
Do shoulder pads differ? Yes depending on the players’ position and comfort zone and safety shoulder pads can differ.
What size is the football? Minor football plays with a ball smaller than high school. Each league sets the size of their ball.
